The Relationship Between Family Functioning and Flourishing Among the Christian Youth Community South Tangerang
Keywords:

This study examined the relationship between family functioning and flourishing among emerging adults in Christian youth communities in South Tangerang City. A quantitative correlational design with purposive sampling was used. Participants were 369 individuals aged 18-29 years. Family functioning was measured using the Chinese Family Assessment Instrument (C-FAI) developed by Shek (2002), while flourishing was assessed using the Flourishing Scale developed by Diener et al. (2010). Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests indicated non-normal distributions; therefore, Spearman correlation was applied. Results showed a positive and significant relationship between family functioning and flourishing (Spearman's rho = .473, p < .001). The empirical means of family functioning (93.25) and flourishing (44.27) were higher than their respective hypothetical means. These findings indicate that family functioning remains associated with flourishing among emerging adults who are actively involved in religious communities.
