Abstract

The discovery of one's ‘true north’ through authenticity has emerged as a crucial component in achieving flourishing. This study meticulously examines the sole contribution of perceived authenticity in fostering emerging adults’ flourishing in the Jabodetabek region, which is situated within a collective culture characterized by strong religious values. This quantitative study employed a simple linear regression analysis to test the research hypothesis: Authenticity contributes to increased flourishing. The study involved 300 participants (aged 18–25 years; Mage = 22.1) that responded to Authenticity Scale and the Flourishing Index. The findings indicate that perceived authenticity contributes positively and significantly to flourishing. This study reinforces argument that authenticity can be experienced universally regardless of cultural orientation, yet each culture has its own perception of authenticity. Therefore, the primary contribution of this study is to enrich cross-cultural authenticity literature and to emphasize the critical role of authenticity in achieving flourishing for Indonesian emerging adults.
