Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between religiosity and the fear of being single. The research method used is quantitative, involving an online questionnaire, along with additional analysis through interviewing two subjects who scored the highest and lowest on the fear of being single survey. The study involved 105 participants who met the inclusion criteria: male or female, single or in a relationship, aged 30–40 years, and residing in Surabaya. This study used Saroglou’s theory of religiosity (4BDRS), which includes 12 items across four dimensions (believing, bonding, behaving, and belonging). The fear of being single is measured using Spielmann's FOBS, which consists of six items. There was no correlation between religiosity and the fear of being single. Additional interview analysis revealed religious factor influencing both interviewees is more oriented toward intrinsic and extrinsic religiosity. Further analysis on the impact on well-being were discussed.
