Gerald Irvin Wiliamson lahir di Des Moines, Lowa 19 Mei 1925. Williamson mendapat gelar B.A. dari Universitas Drake di Des Moines (1949) dan mendapatkan gelar B.D. (Bachelor of Divinity) dari Seminari Teologi di Pittsburgh-Xenia (1952). Williamson melayani sebagai seorang pendeta selama lima puluh tahun dan pada akhirnya ia pensiun dari Gereja Presbiterian Ortodoks pada tahun 2011.
