John Duns Scotus, God's Sovereignty, John Calvin, The Middle Ages摘要
This research examines the thoughts of a medieval philosopher and theologian, John Duns Scotus, on predestination. Predestination itself is a doctrine that comforts and strengthens Christians because it teaches about the assurance of salvation for every believer. However, Predestination is one of the Christian doctrines that has sparked long debates in the history of Christian theology, from the first century to the present day. These debates occur because of human attempts to understand the relationship between God's sovereignty in choosing people to be saved and the role of human freedom in salvation. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to review John Duns Scotus' thoughts on predestination based on the medieval context. This research uses the research method of library studies from various books and journals that are relevant to the purpose of this research.
