Efektivitas Komunikasi Verbal dan Non-Verbal Antara Pianis dan Penyanyi Klasik Terhadap Kualitas Pertunjukkan [The Effectivity of Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication in a Classical Pianist-Vocalist Duo Performance]

Abstract

Abstract [English]

The need for a good accompanist is significant, but few professional pianists can effectively collaborate and accompany singers. When the singer takes on the role of leader in a duo performance and encounters an accompanist who struggles to collaborate, a breakdown in communication occurs, which in turn affects the quality of the duo performance. Conversely, this issue can also impact the accompanist. Non-verbal communication serves as a vital means for both the pianist and singer to communicate, encompassing aspects such as breathing gesture and body gestures. Prior to embarking on their collaborative efforts, as a form of verbal communication, both parties can initiate their collaborative efforts to mutually analyze the interpretation and musical elements of the piece they intend to perform. By employing action research as the chosen research method with one cycle and two variables, significant differences become evident in the use of verbal and non-verbal communication and the alignment of perspectives during the progress and final performance between the control group and the experiment group. This research aims to explore the necessary preparation and non-verbal communication skills required for pianists to effectively accompany and collaborate with singers, with the ultimate goal of developing a learning module for educational purposes.
