Suicide is a serious issue, often understood in church tradition as a fatal violation of God's will and sovereignty. This understanding has led some churches in Indonesia to reject funeral services for suicide victims as an application of church discipline inherited from long-standing theological traditions. However, this practice raises theological and pastoral issues, particularly when viewed in light of the principle of the law of love in Matthew 22:37–39, which affirms love as the core of God's will. This study aims to analyze the theological basis for refusing funeral services through the perspective of the law of love. The method used is a literature review of biblical texts, theological works, and relevant church regulations. The results show that the practice of refusing funeral services for suicide victims deepens the suffering of bereaved families, obscures the witness of Christ's love and forgiveness, and weakens the church's role as an agent of pastoral healing. Therefore, this study concludes that church discipline regarding suicide cases needs to be reviewed so that church services remain faithful to the principle of the law of love and the Christian pastoral mission.
