Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap makna tersembunyi dalam himne Protestan Amazing Grace melalui pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes dan Daniel Chandler. Himne ini bukan hanya pujian liturgis, melainkan juga teks budaya yang menyampaikan nilai-nilai teologis, moral, dan ideologis secara simbolik. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan semiotik dua tingkat: denotatif (makna literal) dan konotatif (makna simbolik/ideologis). Penelitian menemukan bahwa struktur musik dan lirik lagu memuat narasi pertobatan, anugerah ilahi, dan keselamatan, yang disampaikan melalui tanda-tanda seperti “I once was lost, but now am found”. Dalam kerangka mitologisasi Barthes, lirik dan melodi lagu ini mentransformasi ajaran teologis menjadi mitos religius yang dinaturalisasi sebagai kebenaran universal. Amazing Grace menjadi teks terbuka yang memungkinkan interpretasi emosional dan spiritual yang luas, serta memperkuat ideologi Protestan melalui bentuk musikal yang menyentuh. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa himne dapat berfungsi sebagai alat reproduksi ideologi keagamaan secara halus, sekaligus menjadi sarana pembentukan identitas spiritual dan kolektif umat.
