Peran Media Sosial YouTube dan Pemanfaatannya Dalam Pembelajaran Musik [The Role of Social Media Through the Use of Youtube and Its Implementation in Music Learning]

The purpose of this study is to understand the role of social media through the use of Youtube, which can be used in music learning. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data sources obtained from interviews. Interviews were conducted with four sources from different countries who use Youtube as a medium for sharing information and knowledge of music learning. Based on the data analysis conducted, it was found that music learning using Youtube can complement music learning in the classroom. Youtube still cannot replace the position of teachers as educators because the material and explanations are not necessarily factually correct. Music learning with teachers’ guidance is still more optimal to minimize student misunderstandings in learning a material. Learning music using Youtube can be done by anyone without any age limit. However, students with age of 12 years and over can feel more benefits of learning using Youtube because they are able to learn independently, according to Piaget's theory of cognitive development.
Bahasa Indonesia Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami peran media sosial melalui penggunaan YouTube yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sarana pembelajaran musik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan sumber data yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara. Wawancara dilakukan terhadap empat narasumber dengan asal negara berbeda yang menggunakan YouTube sebagai media dalam berbagi informasi dan pengetahuan pembelajaran musik. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dilakukan, ditemukan bahwa pembelajaran musik dengan pemanfaatan YouTube dapat menjadi pelengkap pembelajaran musik di dalam kelas. YouTube masih belum dapat menggantikan posisi guru sebagai tenaga pendidik, karena materi dan penjelasan belum tentu benar secara faktual. Pembelajaran musik dengan guru masih lebih optimal, agar dapat meminimalisir terjadinya kesalahpahaman murid dalam mempelajari sebuah materi. Belajar musik dengan pemanfaatan YouTube dapat dilakukan oleh siapa saja tanpa adanya batasan usia, namun usia 12 tahun ke atas akan lebih dapat merasakan manfaat belajar menggunakan YouTube karena mereka telah dapat belajar secara mandiri, sesuai dengan teori perkembangan kognitif Piaget.
