Abstract

Planning the construction of a prayer home is one of the appropriate steps to enrich students’ spirituality at Sekolah Tinggi Teologia Cipanas (STTC). Designing a prayer home that traces STTCs vision and mission, along with its valuable location in Cipanas, will offer a blessed and peaceful touch to the design of the prayer home. On the first stage of this proposal, a preliminary design scheme for a prayer home had been created in the earlier semester. The purpose of the activity in this second stage is to design a Prayer Garden that supports the prayer home, which had been designed in previous stage, by utilizing the land between buildings by developing a concept that is contextual with its surrounding nature. The main site issue in STTC is the underutilized inter-building space, the abandoned open space and the lack of continuous access from the inner building to the outer landscape areas – equally from the public space to the more private space (the prayer home). Through this Prayer Garden design, it is expected that the STTC community can utilize the existing open spaces to the fullest – to support the spiritual development for students, the continuing companionship for STTC community and surrounding societies, especially by providing facility for a retreat or similarly religious activities. In this second stage of the proposal, the relationship between outdoor landscape, indoor garden, and the Prayer Home will be simply understood with rendered images. Additionally, construction working drawing and cost estimation for all construction items will also be produced – in order to use the outcome of this proposal immediately applied to construction phase of the development.

Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak
