Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

Jurnal Lectura is published each semester in a year, in the month of August and February. Special edition will be published outside the established schedule. Topics addressed within the journal include, but are not limited to:

  1. Strategic communication is how people or organizations use messages and media to achieve their desired communication goals. Messages and media are employed in strategic communication to affect the intended audience's opinions, behaviors, or beliefs. Strategic communication covers the planning, creation, and execution of messaging and communication programs to achieve organizational goals.
  2. New media and journalism entail the production and distribution of news and information content via digital platforms. This focus and scope are on content creation and the use of new media in journalism. In new media and journalism, new technologies and social media are employed to gather, analyze, and distribute news and information to the public.
  3. Technology-mediated communications involves the application of technology to facilitate communication and interaction among individuals, groups, or organizations. This focus and scope are concerned with how technology is utilized to facilitate interpersonal and mass communication.
  4. Risk Communication entails informing individuals about safety, security, disaster, and environmental issues to help people make informed decisions. This scope and focus are on risk communication and its impact on individual and societal behaviors.

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted will go through the evaluation process with a system of double-blind peer review by reviewers selected by the Editorial Board with at least one of whom is a member of the Editorial Board.

Reviewers are appointed under consideration of expertise and suitability to the subject.

Results of the evaluation will be communicated within 3-6 months.

On the basis of reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the Editorial Board will decide whether the manuscript is accepted without revision, accepted with revisions required, or rejected.

The revised manuscript should be returned to the Editorial Board within a predetermined time.

 

Naskah yang dikirimkan akan melalui proses evaluasi dengan sistem double-blind peer review oleh penelaah yang dipilih oleh Dewan Redaksi dan minimal satu di antaranya adalah anggota Dewan Redaksi.

Penelaah ditunjuk berdasarkan pertimbangan kepakaran dan kesesuaian bidang ilmu.

Hasil evaluasi akan diberitahukan dalam waktu 2-3 bulan.

Atas dasar komentar dan rekomendasi penelaah, Dewan Redaksi akan memutuskan apakah naskah diterima tanpa revisi, diterima dengan perbaikan, atau ditolak.

Naskah yang telah diperbaiki harus dikembalikan kepada Dewan Redaksi dalam waktu yang telah ditentukan.

 

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Lectura is published twice a year (August and February) by the Communication Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Pelita Harapan.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

This access is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

 

Author Fees and Publication Charges Policy

This journal does not charge any author processing fees or article submission fees. There are no costs that the author is required to pay.

 

Author Self-Archiving Policy

This journal permits and encourages authors to post items submitted to the journal on personal websites and institutional or funder repositories after publication. The final published PDF version should be used and bibliographic details that credit the publication in this journal should be included.

 

Competing Interest Policy

A competing interest is anything that interferes with, or could reasonably be perceived as interfering with, the full and objective presentation, peer review, editorial decision-making, or publication of research or non-research articles" (with acknowledgement and thanks to PLoS).

Competing interests can be financial or non-financial, professional, or personal. Competing interests can arise in relationship to an organization or another person.

Declaring all potential competing interests is a requirement and is integral to the transparent reporting of research.

1) Authors must declare all relevant competing interests for consideration during the review process.

2) Editors (professional or academic, paid or unpaid) and reviewers must declare their own competing interests and if necessary recuse themselves from involvement in the assessment of a paper.

3) Anyone who comments on or rates published papers in Jurnal Sinergitas PkM dan CSR must declare their competing interests at the time of posting their comments and/or rating.

 

Copyright Policy

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike International License (CC-BY-SA 4.0) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

 

Ethics and Misconduct Policy

At Jurnal Lectura, we are committed to promoting the ethical use of AI in scientific writing. As such, we have established clear rules and procedures to ensure that the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies is transparent, responsible, and balanced.

Authors must disclose any use of AI or AI-assisted technologies in their manuscript, including software, algorithms, or tools used to generate or analyze data, and any AI-generated content that has been included. They must also provide a clear and detailed explanation of how the AI or AI-assisted technologies were used and how they contributed to the scientific findings presented in the manuscript.

Furthermore, any AI-generated content included in the manuscript must be accurate, transparent, and properly attributed. This includes providing clear citations and references for any AI-generated text, figures, or tables.

Authors must ensure that the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing does not compromise ethical standards or contribute to any harm or inequality. They must be mindful of the potential biases and limitations of AI technologies and take steps to mitigate any negative impacts on individuals or communities.

Finally, authors must adhere to our maximum AI content requirement of 15% (Will be check using Turnitin AI Service), which ensures that the use of AI in scientific writing is balanced and does not diminish the role of human expertise and judgment. The use of AI and AI-assisted technologies should only be employed where it provides clear benefits to the scientific analysis and conclusions presented in the manuscript.

This requirement is in place to promote balanced and responsible use of AI in scientific writing, and to ensure that the role of human expertise and judgment is not diminished by the use of automated tools. It also ensures that readers can properly evaluate the scientific findings presented in the manuscript, as they will have a clear understanding of the relative contributions of AI and human knowledge and analysis.

Overall, our journal is committed to promoting responsible and transparent use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing. By establishing clear rules and procedures and adhering to a maximum AI content requirement of 15%, we aim to maintain the highest standards of scientific rigor and ethical practice.

 

Plagiarism Policy

As already stated in Ethics and Misconduct Policy, Jurnal Sinergitas PkM dan CSR and its editors will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where plagiarism has occurred. Editors and reviewers will use free plagiarism screening tools such as the below to assist in this.

In no case shall Jurnal Sinergitas PkM dan CSR or its editors "encourage such misconduct, or knowing allow such misconduct to take place." In the event that we are made aware of any allegation of plagiarism relating to a published article, we will follow COPE's Guidelines for dealing with allegations.
