Learning motivation is one of the important factors in achieving success in learning. Motivation can change as the situation change. One of the changing factors in learning motivation is teaching styles. Various teaching styles can be used to teach. Differences in using teaching styles can lead to an increase or decrease in learning motivation. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between teaching styles and students’ learning motivation in the Major Piano Instrument course at the Music Study Program, Universitas Pelita Harapan. The research method used in this study was a quantitative approach by conducting a correlation study, involving a sample of 23 music students who are taking the Major Piano Instrument course in the odd semester of 2020/2021. The results of the study with a correlation coefficient of 0.266 indicate that there is a positive relationship between the teaching style of lecturers and learning motivation, but the level of relations between the two variables relatively weak and not significant. The contribution of lecturers’ teaching style is only 7% of the students learning motivation. The findings of this study are expected that there will be efforts for lecturers to apply the right teaching style, to increase student learning motivation.
