PENGGUNAAN APLIKASI CLASS123 SEBAGAI UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETERLIBATAN PERILAKU SISWA KELAS XII IPA DI SUATU SMA DI KOTA TANGERANG [THE USE OF THE CLASS123 APPLICATION AS AN ATTEMPT TO IMPROVE GRADE 12 SCIENCE STUDENTS’ BEHAVIORAL ENGAGEMENT IN A HIGH SCHOOL IN TANGERANG]

Abstract


Student behavioral engagement is one of the determinants of a lesson succeeding. The development of sophisticated technology affects students nowadays. Teachers should see these facts as opportunities to create interesting lessons in order to increase students’ engagement in class. Based on observations made in a class of grade 12 science track students in a high school in Tangerang, it was found that students were passively engaged and uninvolved in learning. Therefore, as an effort to improve students’ behavioral engangement, the researcher used an instructional media-based classroom management application with a variety of interesting features called Class123. The purpose of this research was to investigate when and how to use the Class123 application to improve students’ behavioral engagement. The research methodology was the Class Action Research (CAR) model from Kemmis and McTaggart which took place within two cycles involving 20 students. The instruments used were an observation checklist sheet, an interview sheet, and a questionnaire. The research showed that the Class123 can improve students’ behavioral engagement.

BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Keterlibatan perilaku siswa adalah salah satu faktor penentu keberhasilan suatu pembelajaran. Perkembangan teknologi yang semakin canggih dan eratnya dengan pelajar masa kini, seharusnya menjadi suatu kesempatan yang besar bagi guru untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang menarik, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa di dalam kelas. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan di kelas XII IPA di suatu SMA di Kota Tangerang, ditemukan bahwa siswa-siswa cenderung pasif dan kurang terlibat dalam pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, sebagai upaya meningkatkan keterlibatan perilaku siswa, maka peneliti menggunakan media pembelajaran yang berbasis aplikasi manajemen kelas dengan berbagai fitur yang menarik yaitu aplikasi Class123. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa dan bagaimana menggunakan aplikasi Class123 dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan perilaku siswa kelas XII IPA di suatu SMA Kota Tangerang. Metodologi penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang berlangsung dalam dua siklus dengan melibatkan 20 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi checklist, lembar wawancara, dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Class123 dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan perilaku siswa.
